This department is one of the oldest in the history of the College and is reckoned as vital to the understanding of nature. It seeks to improve student’s understanding to keep abreast with changes in the world. It focuses on how to relate science to the learners’ environment, make science culturally relevant, gender and inclusivity friendly, provide professional scientific attitudes and skills such as critical thinking, honesty, patience, sincerity, precision and accuracy among others. It addresses misconceptions that will impede learners of diverse abilities and strengths from participating in any science lessons and integrate practical science activity into lessons. The best pedagogical and content knowledge are applied to make sure lessons are enriching and also different abilities and strengths or needs are catered for to ensure a safe working environment and equal opportunities for all group work and all practical activities.

Head of Department
I am Dzah Ernest and comes from Ho in the Volta Region of Ghana. I went to Mawuli School between 1993 to 1995 where I offered Science and obtained my SSSCE Certificate. By dint of hard work and perseverance enrolled as a science student at the University of Cape Coast in 2000 and finally graduated with BSc. in Biology.
I am an experienced Biology teacher with over ten years experience of providing quality education to students. Possessing the required enthusiasm and adaptability to manage all calibre of students. Being a self-motivated person with an insatiable passion for excellence and has a solid reputation for upholding high ethical standards and realizing co-operate goals and objectives. I am also confident and responsible with the desire to work in a highly competitive environment. A self-starter with excellent leadership and communication skills and like facing new challenges.
